I’ve always smeared everything with the oil your going to use on start up

Personally always use a pukka assembly lube - far more viscous than any std oil and will give extra protection during initial start up or if stored for any length of time prior to use

Lubriplate 105 back in the dim and distant past.

Mainly because it was specc’ed by Detroit Diesel and it was available at, shall we say, a very attractive price. Ahem!

I still have and use a large tube of Coppa Slip that my brother got me from the SeanP, probably from the early 90's :D

Crikey! I should think these days you'd need COSHH approval, Chemical Data Sheet and HazMat kit to use that stuff offshore now. :lol: :lol:

If your just in Newcastle, I'm down near the Angel at Birtley so can easily sort some out if needs be.....
