As Peter James' underwriters have decided not to cover classic bikes, I am looking for an alternative company. Any suggestions?

I hope you are wrong! They still have a web page devoted to Classic bikes https://www.peterjamesinsurance.co.uk/i ... ssic-bikes They have been by far the best value insurance I have had if you have a selection of classic bikes.

Maybe it's classic people they aren't covering :-) Only joking John!

I gave them a call to see if that is correct but it was after 5pm so they had gone. I'll try again tomorrow as I'll need to find out.

I’ve always used Carole Nash and yes I do know they’re only brokers nowadays but when I’ve compared other insurances they initially look cheaper until I realised that most of what other insurances call extras are standard with CN

I'm with Peter James. As far as I know they still cover classics.

When it's renewal time, try Peter James (tell them you are a member of the KOC UK). I was with Carol Nash before Peter James but Peter James also have all the extras (Euro and UK breakdown (useful for EK8!), legal cover, agreed value, etc) and were quite a bit less. Plus if you do make a change their admin fee was less then Carol Nash as well.

I called Peter James this morning and they are not stopping classic insurance (as they specialise in it), so I suggest you try again John.

Thanks UB, I think my insurance is due in September so I’ll give them a try then. When I got the Kat I changed the insurance over from the kettle, the premium was exactly the same but I was charged £11 I think to cover the paperwork which ain’t too bad I don’t suppose.
One thing did miff me was I thought I would get a discount for having the super duper trackker thingy fitted? I was told that would only apply to a modern bike?

I contacted Peter James to see what was going on and it wasn't down to them. It the underwriters that had decided not to offer a quote for the renewal due to me having joint post codes. one at home and the other where my bikes are kept. They say considering the cheap premium, it did not make good business. especially after my claim over the 400.. So carry on lads , it's not you, it's me. I will give C,NASH ago. will let you know.. Cheers, the other Mr Grumpy.

I bet it was the theft that made them run away, insurance is probably the biggest scam going, they are happy to take your money but if you have to use them for the reason they are there they go all evasive and look for any reason not to pay out, by the way luckily I have never had to make a claim but base this information on other poor saps who have suffered from these crooks, rant over.
