Cheers Pedda.
Must admite I've not striped it down, just swoped them over, I was going to have a look at it tomorow at work ;)
If it is just the brushes where would be the best place to get them from?

Robinsons still do them , not really that expensive, but if you take them to a car starter motor repairer he can probably match them.

Cheers for that,
had a look at it today at work and the starter is f*ck and needs rewinding as some of the wire coating has came off and I can see at lest 3 wires that are bust.

no... different geary gears. you could swap all the bits and it'd work tho but you need the idler gears along with the starter

Well get some new brushes from the local car shop and now the starter turns the engine nicly so got the spare strater (for the GS1000) and one the is back in the bike :)
And the best thing is the Kat is on the road for the summer as I tax it at the start of April and have had a big grin on my face every day going to work on it.

Better with the EFE set up... they spin them motors over a lot quicker. ;)
