sealskinz socks - which variety of them do you use?... various thicknesses and lengths are available... and more importantly. where dya find em for £15! - best price i can find online is £23/£24 to the door...

Been using the calf length mid thermals for about 6 years for fishing. Once got a wellyfull and went back to the car to put some dry socks on, sloshed my way back, boot off , emptied about a pint out, sealskin off, and my normal sock underneath was bone dry. You CAN actually stand in the bath in them and keep your feet dry. Weak point is the stitching around the upper hem as once you get a thread it unpicks itself and you lose the elasticity in the hem. They will remain waterproof from the bottom up though. My 4 year old pair and 6 year old pair have been stolen by my son for walking the husky and believe it or not they have never been washed! They just do not smell and you never sweat in them. They are quite bulky so bear that in mind.
All mine have been £23/£24.

i wear them at glastonbury every year, that means i can wear my normal work boots rather than having to spend a whole week in wellys. my feet dont sweat in them and stay bone dry. i buy them from either go outdoors or decathalon.

As said Robyn uses hers at the stables, her wellies are not Sunday wellies.........holy.......

I got £15 pair from army surplus store, they were issued to the troops although an unmarked variant just a NATO stock number......
Calf length as in just below knee.

Either way the few extra posted worth it.

I recommend these, I bought a pair and Michelle disbelieved they were waterproof until I stood in them in a bowl of warm water, felt weird but my feet were bone dry.
I find them a little not over thick but not as flexible as a normal pair of thick socks but when worn under boots comfortable but above all waterproof

thanks all - so are all the ones in use here then the calf length versions?.... all the ex military appear to be calf length and can be had on ebay for maybe a little under £20 ... knee length don't appear to be ex military... i guess i need to know if calf length, are they long enough to stop the top of my boot (which had hard plastic on it) from hitting my leg bone when i walk

Had my original pair for well over 10 years and they have only just started leaking ever so slightly.
I have ankle ones that come just over the top of my ankle boots but they have a rim that stops the water going down into them
Definitely worth paying a bit for

go for the longer one and fold down if you have the "boot shin rubbing prob" sparks

My newest pair (only worn once) go half way up my calf when pulled up tight. This leaves them 10-15mm above the top of my sidi black rain boot (which is not at the widest part of my calf)
Paddling about in the garage for 5 mins saw them slip below the top of the boot so I guess they'd be too short for you (unless partially held up by compression leggings maybe)
