Not Kat but a 650 bandit query,

This is a question I posed on Bandit forum No answers.
650 water cooled Bandit.
Ideas?

A couple of weeks ago the speedo always read 32 mph as I passed the speed indicators around the place when they showed 30.

Then I noticed the speedo read 68 and I was overtaking everyone on motorways..mmmmmm
The rev counter ratio was different aswell..........ah it has just had a new chain and sprocket set.....asked at bike shop who fitted it ....may have a different size sprocket due to stock.
The bike is a little less pokey on take off .
With the speedo being electronic the only way the sprocket change can alter the speedo reading is off the sprocket ? Off the gearbox it wouldn't make a difference?
Another option?
Forgot to mention now when I pass these speed indicators 30 on my speedo flashes up 34mph, now I know I can just add 4 mph or do 26 mph where nessescary ,
Does it matter ......34 in some areas is a ticket.

Think I sussed it rear sprocket 47 instead of 48.
Bizarre querk here, in the old days with speedo from front wheel a smaller rear sprocket would improve mpg......... Now with digital it reads that is worse.....it isn't,t the revs are lowered ....but the speedo is slower. So the trip says need fuel 10 miles sooner...

have you tried sticking a satnav in the tankbag to see just how accurate it is or isnt!. i find the satnav to be more accurate than the speedo. my brother drives busses for a living and got a ticket for speeding at 36 in a 30 (in a double deck bus) he doesnt speed so complained to his boss that he wasnt speeding. the bus was taken out of service and the speedo calibrated. he was right, when he was doing 36mph the speedo said 29, so it was 7mph out. didnt help him, he still got 3 points and a fine, bus firm said, not our fault you 'should have known your speed'!

That is basically my point wraith mate. Just wanted to know where the speedo read from, otherwise there may have been a fault on the digital speedo.
Now I know it is out I just calculate until the next chain and sprocket is due ....probably 3-4 months max.
I calculate all my Kats from Km's to mph anyway .

The 10% thing varies from police force to police force......Lancashire nil Gtr Manchester 10 % +1 unless in a commercial vehicle then 0.
