Katana Woes but it passed the MOT!

Took the 1100 for it's MOT today (ran out last week). Stopped at MOT place which is 25miles from me and passed over key, to the tester and but when he went to start it, it just clicked. Anyway he bumped it and did the MOT and it passed with no advisories - nice! So ordered a MotoBatt maint. free battery and hoping that is the issue and not something else...

Got back to mine and the left fork leg oil seal is leaking as well (it was a little bit before MOT, but stopped off just before and wiped away the tell tale ring), but now it's quite a bit. I think it'll need to be done before trying to get to EK6 from Norwich next week - will I have time? Hope so else I'll be in the naughtly corner on a V-Strom.

Hopefully see you next week...

Rob

Re oil weep , tissue paper under the cap will sort it, it is only for a weekend.
Other than that just take that leg off and take the seal out with a hook slide new one in , total time 30 mins.

How can you of all people not be on a Kat :D :D

Cheers Fossie - Yes I better sort it.

Hadn't thought about trying to hook it out but I remember when I stripped them down last year they were in pretty tight - what type of hook then? To be honest I'm sure I damaged it when I was putting it back in then. I have the Suzuki tool to strip down and hold damper rod so it should be fairly quick, even that way. I've ordered from Robinsons so hope it arrives tomorrow or Saturday.

Well the bad news is that the fork seal leak is more serious than expected. The leg and slider are really scored badly and I have no idea why. Description and images at:

if you want to hazard a guess why this happened as I'm currently stumped.
