Finally some good news...

....for me

Those of you who know me will know that I've been having some major problems with my hands that made it look like I might actually have to give up the bikes, well....

I had an appt with a hand specialist this morning and its a mixed bag of news!
Good news regarding right hand, they reckon its not arthritis but carpal tunnel for which they've given me an injection to try to settle it. Back in 10 weeks to reassess! Just hope the numb fingers wears off soon, made for an interesting drive home just glad I wasn't on the bike...imagine trying to use front brake when you can't feel the lever!!'

As to the left hand, there's nothing this doc can do for me so its back to plastic surgeon to discuss options but most likely for me seeing what he's got to work with, will be foot and mouth!!
Sorry, that's meant to read toe to hand it'll only be foot in mouth if I lick my finger!!!
Basically they'll remove one though probs both 2nd toes and implant them where my missing fingers are. Hopefully that'll improve hand function and if I'm really lucky allow me to ride my bikes again!! 8-) 8-)
As if that ain't bad enough they reckon there's carpal tunnel in left hand too!!

Oh well we'll wait and see I guess
Fingers (and toes soon) crossed

good and bad news there - though not enough good. Still - any option is better than no option. Hope it all works out for you - I've had carpal tunnel syndrome (or wrist pump as its known in Moto GP) in my right hand for years - I spend a lot of riding time waving my right arm about to get the circulation going again. Guess I should "go under the knife" sometime soon!

On a lighter note, will you be susceptible to athletes hand? :D

Well I had my first opportunity to "garden test" the carpal tunnel injection and I have to report that while its not perfect, my right hand is probs about 75% better!!
Still got some aches and pains in that hand but after 6 hours and 35 minutes of solid weeding I'd imagine even someone with no problems would have achy hands!!

You did read that right 6.35 hrs of solid weeding!!!

I NEED a different job....
