value of an 1100 SD

Post by spondonchris » Sun Jan 19, 2014 5:15 pm

What would a complete 1983 1100 SD Kat be worth? I am asking for a guy I met last week who I bought some bits from. He is thinking of selling his 1100 SD, a red / silver one. It looked in good order to me and was a standard bike. There was a bit of damage to the fairing paint where he had dripped some fuel or something on it. Apart from that it looked good. I think he may repaint the fairing anyway.
I said I would ask on here to see what sort of figure he may expect?
Any ideas?

To he honest what anyone is willing to pay! :?

A few obvious points, is it an import, not really important after 30 years and already registered. But mph clocks command higher value.

Why is he selling it,does it need other work apart from paint?

A ball park figure bearing in mind some really high prices just recently an offer of £1750 - £1900, this would obviously depend on condition , mechanics etc , but only the guy checking/ buying can suss that.

Recent examples have gone for £3000-4500. But SD examples general go for less for some reason, probably the paint job is of a time. But the SZ 's silver is timeless or current. :?

Thanks Fossie, It is a UK model. He bought it off his friend years ago who had it from new I think so only 1 previos owner and only around 17000 miles on the clock. He did tell me that his mate had crashed it and the current owner had to buy a replacement frame, which was an SZ frame, but he converted all the brackets to SD, so it looks like an SD frame. Don't know if this will affect the value. He has done a good job and he is only selling it because his garage is too full and he can't get on with the riding position anymore so out of his bikes this is the one he wants to sell.

Mick, I think you are right. He will need to stick it on ebay to get the best price. I would be interested to see what it fetches. I agree with Fossie, that the SD's are probably not as sought after, but what would I know, I'm new to this!
