Sorry to hear about JMac, sad news indeed. I am a little in awe of his ability to just get on his bike and ride no matter what without the things that would have me in a panic not phasing him at all. A part from seeing him at the EKs he also came to the Kats On a Hot Spin Spoof to Belgium where his 650 needed attention (surprise!) for the oil leak that it had until Fossie fixed it in France a year or 2 later.
If you can, have a re-read of his "What I did in my holidays (or from tale of woe to euphoria)" in The Pride 52. What sums up Jmac to me is this paragraph:
"Came the day, I set off at a steady 4k revs and all was well until I stopped for fuel near Oxford and found my left boot covered in 10/40. What to do, press on or turn around? So I took out a 10p coin and flipped it. Having lost the toss, I headed south to Pompey."

Well Jmac ( or teddy bear John as he was known on the courier circuit) left us this morning .
