New Katana!
New Katana!
Check out this vid of an Italian motorcycle mags attempt to build a modern Katana, it's based on the gsx 1000s naked streetbike https://youtu.be/TD7P7DZppRI

Re: New Katana!
I see hints of a Kat in it ...
In all honesty the original was a 1100 ET with better clothing, as were the 650 and 550.
So a new GSX 1000 thingy with a funky angled bodywork could be acceptable........
alongside a prope Kat!
It would be nice to have a modern bike alongside a classic ....?but personally I would never afford one, or bring myself to sell one of mine .....tight ar*e

Re: New Katana!
There were 2 of them at the Milan bike show - 1 on display with a very nice standard "proper" Kat and another somewhere else. Both are based on a naked GSXR1000 and are little more than bodykits.
Only bit I liked was the "moulded-in" Katana kanjii on the side covers. I had pictures, but deleted them shortly after the show.

Re: New Katana!
As Fossie said earlier, the original '80's Katanas were just re-bodied existing models, and if the interest in the 'new' Kawasaki z900rs is anything to go by then this retro look with modern brakes, tyres, suspension and electrics seems to be a winner, maybe Suzuki should give it a try, from my experience there are loads of 50 something aged bikers out there that would choose this over a gsx-s1000s
