He dosen't wether he has a German log book, I assume not , pity because with that it is easy if you phone DVLA , they don't mind indivually imported machines.
Without its a case of a dating letter and maybe an inspection on completion.
Nova is just for HMRC to collect taxes from newer vehicles and there ain't much on a 40 year old classic......but the paperwork has to filled in at all stages.
