1700 miles with the Samurai pack for £7000

Why are people swapping these after months of ownership and in this case willing to let it go for peanuts....£7 grand is loadsamoney...but with the extras it's the cheapest one , however the peanuts refers to what he'll get in p/X , the most will be £5 -5 and a half grand against a £10 grand bike.

What is the competition, I thought the new Kat was the best of the bunch. I haven't ridden one, but the press waxed on about the GSXF it's built on and I rode a K5 that I loved. At 145 HP it defiantly pulls on my 2010 Z1000 it had 127 stock.

Ultimately it’s neither a pure retro nor a highly spec’d street naked.

For me the issue is the hyp didn't justify the bike ...promises of all new , next generation etc...but then we were presented with a bike that the target audience in the main were aware of

Add to that its Italian design and you will get design over function. Small tank , no pillion to speak of ....
The journos haven't helped with focus on the small tank, when in reality the range depends on the rider. The target buyer ....who was it ? In which market?
Shame really because as you know I liked it , but couldn't live with it....to many gadgets as per all modern stuff

Watering down of the sacred name really was a duff idea in the previous years , so lost its mystic.

I went to see it in Rotterdam the morning it was available. Looked at it, sat on it. Has potential? Sure. Wish it was something special other than a regular production bike with fancy dress? Yep. Would I buy one with my own money? Not at all, Thruxton R would follow me home.

Blix, the Beemer is too expensive to be compared, the Yamaha doesn't have the power, peak or torque, plus it Yamaha) has ride by wire that turns allot of us off, I had a 17 R1 that was ride by wire, I hated it. Unless they fixed that, I will never go down that road again.

Not sure if your continent is like ours, but moto journalists here have never stopped waxing on about the K5 GSXR1K, so the fact that it has that gift is enough for me to lust after it.

I'm not sure what a "Yam" is but your right, the MT does have more power, I thought it was 140. I still like that Kat/K5 better. The MT looks amazing, but I might get tired of looking at it's edgie styling. Once I got married about 2 years ago, I really stopped going nutz on my cycles, in fact, I haven't even pulled a wheelie as a married man
