It is between 83 and 87.. Which when this model was available..it's a grey import..as in 2nd hand Japanese market model , which gets an age related registration depending on what the paperwork says.

Canada did get some officially which were all numbered - I think 001 to 200, so there are some just over the border... (there's probably the odd 1 or 2 in the US as well)!

I was told years ago that the US really didn't like the early Katana and they just sat in show rooms. I also hear many if not most were shipped to other countries. Like I said in another post, I have seen one four or five times, and that counts the one I bought. And it's not like I live in a small town, I'm on Orange County, just south of Los Angeles.

Yes on the full of housewifes. Wifie forces me to watch the OC one. I have ran into 3 of them.
I think we didn't get the pop up because we have had daytime headlight laws for motorcycles since like 1980 or so, so I can't think of a bike that you could even turn the head light off, it's just a choice, low or high.

The Canadian version complies with day time lights because you turn ignition on the headlamp pops up.. The only model that did, a different control box .
The other model we mention on here , the shark was not an official Suzuki model but an ES with an Italian body kit on it for the Italian Market, because of the lights on law it had a running light fitting below the headlamp.

Cool, do you have a link to the Shark?
I am a bike nut, especially iron from Japan from 79 to 85, what I call the ACDC Ara as in Air Cooled Dual (overhead) Cam. Before that seemed to be single cam, and after that was liquid cooled.
One of the only single cam bikes I love is the Benelli Sei, I have never seen one and not even sure they were imported to the US.
But I really only know the stuff we get. I used to get your mag "Bike" so I saw some of the stuff you get, but I lost my way to get it in like 01.
