Now even I know it's going to be the carbs on this one

But surely worth a punt anyway
400 Kat
Re: 400 Kat
Someone's taken John R's advice literally when he says ''first thing to do with a 400 is throw away the carbs''

Re: 400 Kat
That'll be because the carbs are on the one he has for sale....the one that started at £4500 and. Is now down to £3 grand ish!! He trailer is in the background for sale aswell...
At least he's honest enough to not even try to explain or of course use the easy fix statement

Re: 400 Kat
I stuck a bid on just so Ebay reminds me when it's finishing as I always forget! Still under the reserve though.
The silver one looks better than the Black one, so you would have thought he would have been better to do the other way round, unless the silver ones engine is knackered as well (which isn't a bad thing so long as price is right).

Re: 400 Kat
Wotsitwurf?
No matter what the shocks are off a 250 Kat so far too soft, so need replacing, it's obviously needs carbs which can be sourced from Japan or possibly from an impulse breaking here...
If it has been a runner why rip the carbs off and use them on a tattier one??? Suggest CDI or coil issue , so assume these need sourcing. The engines are usually fine , but it is unknown...
Tokico brakes that haven't been used for a while.......new pistons and seals
So all in all you are buying the bodywork....Tank £150 because it is difficult to source...panels £50 seat £50' same for tail piece ....clocks. £100 fairing. £100 with bracket. Clip on and yoke £80. Exhaust £100 as you need to assume the headers are in need of help.
So Max £400 as you've got to factor in collection. . To ensure you won't be left too much out of pocket.
Dropping in another engine as a project is an option as we know ....but then the above is relevant .
I still have a soft spot for these ......but years of ownership means after a few seconds of ...ooooh I see the above

Re: 400 Kat
Similar mind to you Fossie and went to £400 though other bidder had higher amount so it got to £405 but was still under the reserve so it is relisted. Still seems odd to me that the silver one wasn't made to be the running bike as I think he'd get near his £3000 given recent 400 sales.
