The guy claimed it was a special 'yoshimura' version and tried convincing me it was something it obviously wasn't. Fork tubes were wrecked as were the rear shocks just like this one. Brakes needed completely rebuilding, and there's the carb thing. The frame had rust just like this one and he wanted £1500 back when people were buying runners for around £700. It did have a yoshi exhaust mind...

This looks a better option than the one I saw but I'm not convinced it's a £1750 bike. End of the day everything could be shot.

nah, its a nail at decent bike money!. frame is rusty, lets be kind and assume its not rotten, but the entire bike needs stripping, start totting up the costs bearing in mind its 1750 quid.
frame repaint, new rear shocks, new tyres, new battery, fork rebuild, brake rebuild inc new lines pads and seals, carb rebuild and ultrasonic clean, new chain and sprocket kit, weigh in with a service kit, plugs and filters etc, and assuming the engine is ok, which as its been off the road since 1998 which by my recconing is 22 years, now i think thats over 3 grand before you touch the paintwork or spend a penny on labour. and this assumes the exhaust isnt as rusty as every other bit of steel on that bike. now that doesnt sound like much of a bargain to me.

This was the same bike I was thinking of as a project a few months back. Was more money then! I offered the bloke £1750 and he refused. Thankfully he refused my offer. Not the friendliest of a person to deal with!
