Sadly it is reported Wes Cooley passed away .
Truly one of the greats watching him ride the hell out of the early superbikes was a sight to behold .
Sadly his career cut short by an horrific accident at sears point raceway.Lately he had been making appearances at AHRMA races where he put in laps on his championship winning GS 1000 .
I wonder how many Katana's his racing sold.
Condolences to his family.

Oh no. That's far too young. What a fantastic racer, just loved his style and loved those 80s superbikes.

Doesn't it just tell you everything about the man that he became a nurse after his injuries and illness prevented him from racing anymore?
I bow my head to you Wes.

It speaks volumes to his character that he choose that profession.
I was reading an article about him at the AMA races when he rode his GS 1000, he said he didnt realise people were still interested in him and his wife who did not know him during his racing years was blown away by the army of fans that came out to see him.
I will raise a glass of the Macallan in his honor tonight.

I also like a bit of single malt, but only ever what is on offer at the supermarket. Tight-arses can't be choosers. Or something like that.

I do agree but I raise the Macallan also in honor of the late Neil Peart RIP Professor .Motorcyclist ,author/journalist and his evening job drummer for Rush!
In his highly recommended book ghost rider he mentions the Macallan after a day's ride and boy did he ride that thing .
But to quote the hilarious Ron White " it's the kind of whiskey you drink if you're gonna die penniless!".
