Mikuni-VM33's.jpg
750sz sorted and running sweetly thanks for all help, appreciated -Unfortunately its stablemate, 1100 Kat is playing up at low revs, particularly in traffic -pulling off lights, stalling occasionally -methinks likely down to needle/jetting wear -Old set of VM33's, possibly not the most practical for daily rides in dense congestion, but luv em' on the open roads when wound up. Might be looking in all the wrong places but can't seem to find parts suppliers - Does anybody know where to get spares for these? Mikuni are currently running out and discontinuing old stock -and these carbs are pretty old now.

Another not completely unrelated topic -anybody know what's the difference between 'Standard' race Mikuni VM33's and Yoshi VM33's -would this just be in the settings/jetting for use with Yoshi profile cams/valves particularly? Aesthetic colour choice? Someone may know, I don't, but am curious...

I'll look on old school -not familiar with it, website would it be?
Bell mouths -with you, would howl with the intake roar, and breathing be a lot easier -didn't think about fuel, good point, but obviously less strain, more economy -so I can see that. Went to a Funeral in East Sussex on Wednesday, left Wales at dawn - 4 hours of constant heavy rain there, 4 hours in the afternoon back, and even with the K&N's it was spluttering and threatening to park itself on the hard shoulder several times, it really didn't like being waterboarded- Weather finally dried up and the Kat cleared its throat by the Severn Bridge for the last hammer home -just never know what's coming down from above -If I was back in NSW -in a heartbeat John. Love where I live with a passion, but at times it could do with a roof.

Do people use Bellmouths here on daily's?

just as a tip, get a brew and some biscuits before you join oldskool, youre going to be there for a while :D
as much as i love this place, oldskoolsuzuki, (oss) is THE best suzuki motorcycle site on the planet. if you like gs, gsx, gsxr even rgv and tl suzukis then there just isnt a more comprehensive or better repository of knowlege on tuning modifying customising and repairing them anywhere. period. if you want to know how to make it go fast, handle, go faster, stop, go fucking really fast, look good, or go mentally insanely fast, then oss is the place to find out how to do it, who can do it, where you can get the bits and what to do to fix it when you fall off it, cos someone there has done it, is planning it, or has done better, from building frames to building engines with gsxr top ends on gsx bottom ends (yes, that is a thing) and all points inbetween.
BUT, dont take the piss, dont get too cocky too soon and dont be an arse or oss will spit you straight back out again. first thing you need to do is read the rules, theres a reason for it, cos failure to comply will either get you kicked out or see you on the butt end of a merciless stream of piss taking and abuse. although tbh, thats often the case if they take a likeing to you anyhow. enjoy it!
oh, and several of us here are also on there, some with the same username, (im johnr pretty much everywhere online) and some with different ones.

and tbh, and this might get me some stick, as stonking as the carbs you have are, if its for daily use, the best carbs ive had on a gsx engine were the 38mm flatslide cv carbs off a gsxr1100m, they made mine go like stink, but were also tractable enough to let me pootle round town at low speed without going all spluttery, would scream away when the throttle was snapped open, as well as letting me run round in top gear at 2500 revs and wind the throttle open without bogging or stuttering. fab things. if its a daily ride, why not get a set and theen just swap to the smoothbores when youre off for a play or a trackday.

I read that the early GSX carbs are good -but wear on the needle collars unevenly, and quickly -stonking power from all accounts -36mm's usable as well? Swopping them would be the best option for 'playtime' -all comes down to getting hold of some, right jetting ( running Yoshi cams) and down to how many notes need to change hands to get a low mileage rack of them -Suzuki, so the spacing should be the same line up to the collars I would have though -pretty much plug and play?

Also thanks for the heads up mate -Logged on and I'll have good look around -even at first sight the forum seems to have covered loads of things I hadn't even thought of - like you say, bit mind bending what people are doing. Good joining advice BTW

Would the Kat Airbox fit? Be less prone to being temperamental in wet conditions, GSX-R carbs likely to be bit bigger at the induction end would have thought.

yeah, but i got some hydraulic hose that was big enough to make some adaptors. stock airbox would work, but then again, theres nothing to stop you fitting bellmouths with the open end inside your k+n's.
