Is there such a thing as....

A yoshimura 400 kat ?
Been to view a bike today which was described to me as the above.
As far as I can make out it was just a standard 400 with a tailpiece painted silver and sporting a really sexy yoshimura exhaust.
Last on the road in 2006, so will have all the associated problems.
Apparently had WD40 down the bores before it was laid up and run on super unleaded cos it doesn't ruin the carbs.
Forks are rusted in the travel area, tank probably rusted inside, battery obviously now a paperweight and despite looking new the tyres would probably be dog toys.
He wanted £1200, adamant it was a yoshi kat.

So....is there such a thing?

In short .....kind of , there was a ltd edition 400 that came a red silver tank etc, the exhaust was a common replacement in Japan so not actually tuned by Pops Yoshi.

Fair chance this was Jason's missus's 400 which ran fine at the time of selling.

True about super unleaded, a piece will follow in next pride.

With a gash battery you won't be able to test starting for CDI issues or left coil failure .
Why was it parked up?
Seems steep for a non runner.

As for £1200 ........hold off I know of a newly refurbished, all new internals in the carbs 400 about to come on the market in the next week or so , not sure on price but Going to be close to that I assume.

Story is it was stuck outside a shop in york without a price on it and it didn't sell.
Dealer offered it to another dealer (guy i went to see) and he took it off his hands for £200.
It was locked away in a garage with numerous other projects but he never got back to it due to work, other projects, and running EFE's on the strip.
It's exactly the same as Rob Bird's bike but the tailpiece has been badly painted silver.
Our yorkshire reps are aware of it as Robster has shown interest in it some time ago.

£1200 seems steep to me as well. The one I got from gumtree last year with the stainless Yoshi was £700 and forks and tank are fine (off road since 2010 but showing only 22k km). Needed carbs doing and new petrol cap plus C&S . I did to pay to get it too me though...

Got to say they are a great bike to ride though, worth getting one. It's nearly they bike I always choose to ride. I can help with carbs if required and the Viton seal kits from Litetek are cheap and sort them.

At the price I paid I have some cash to sort the suspension out as will say mine is a little bouncy for my tastes.

Why the left coil particularly?

I have loads of mates in thorpe willoughby and spend a lot of time in the village, none of them have mentioned there's another kat local to me. I only live a mile and a half from the fox inn.
It's in a garage in york Garry.

I must agree with the "it's a great ride" as I have just got mine back from the carb doctor and after a short blast I,m still grinning from ear to ear. Orgasmic.

There's no way i was gonna pay £1200 for a non-runner that he'd done nothing to but bury under a pile of other frames and boxes. Think it had 49k on the clock and there could be allsorts up with it. Nice pipe though...
