Do I own a Katana? Am I welcome in this group?
I have a 1985 GSX400F which has a Katana like styling. See photos.
The model is quite rare and some parts are difficult to find as is knowledge and advice from other owners of the model.
I'm hoping to find access to parts and advice.
Thanks

Re: GSX400F
As it happens the GSX400f , WAS sold as a Katana in Europe , we were sold the GSX400EZ which was a twin .
So please feel that you could ask questions and advice. For me it's acceptable as Kat partly because of the opening statement , but because it shares a few bits with the 650 Kat .
Should you need parts eBay Germany would be a good start as the sold well there, due to licensing laws at ghost time.
Is yours an import as 1985 seems very late registration for one of these. Is there a blob of weld added to the engine number?

Re: GSX400F
Thanks for your replies
My GSX400F is currently experiencing a blowing head gasket so it is currently with my local mechanic, so unable to establish at the moment if there is a blob of weld as described.
However, the V5C document states first date of registration and date first registered in UK as 08 05 1985, also special notes state Declared New At First Registration.
I'm happy now that I can say I have a Katana
.
I will pay my subscription and join the club properly, hopefully I can bring my GSX400F KATANA along to any future shows you are planning

Re: GSX400F
It's ok if it was actually registered in 1985 , it must have been NOS, and so the recall will have been done. The first ones had a sump capacity that was too low and so the cranks suffered . Those recalled had a blob of weld added to engine number plate to show it was done .
By 85 the problem had been sorted.
Advice would be also ride with the lights on as they fried the reg / rec if ridden without as the alternator output was high as everyone else except UK had lights on laws by then and although this is a UK model it differs nothing except speedo from EU models.
