Popup Speedo Failure

Just come back from a pleasant night time run...... and my speedo failed!

A quick check under torch light, nothing obvious.. I'll have a look in the morning, is this a common thing, any advice on what to check first?

First thing I would look at is the drive cable, my SZ failed the night before it's last MOT. Cable had dropped off the back of the speedo gearbox.

Did you notice if the odometer was still clocking up the Kilometres? If it was then it will be a faulty mechanism driving the needle.
