What Suzuki should have done with the GSX-R1000
It's been a while since I've posted but... Just came across this on my Google feed and needed to share. https://www.visordown.com/news/new-bikes/suzuki-katana-worldsbk-lockdown-project-more-neo-more-retro-all-fascinating Don't know about you but I'd bend my "carbs only" rule if Suzuki ever put it in...

Fitting HD fork springs
Has anyone got a clever method for compressing heavy duty forks springs to get the cap on? I've bought these German ones which are giving me a bit of a headache - see the pic below of the teetering pile I need to juggle and compress. My method has been to try to stop everthing popping out the side w...

Re: Fork Chrome Plating
Hi Blix, I'll post you some more pick over the next few days on my restoration post just loaded. The Cerakote has a lovely grainy finish as it goes onto the metal directly. It may be about temperature and thickness but as Mark Dunford is the only manufacturer trained supplier in the UK I'm sure he k...

Re: Fork Chrome Plating
I just thought I'd close this post with some feedback. I ended up sending my fork tubes to Philpots rather than Hard Chrome Plating Ltd on the basis the forum comments suggested they were lower risk. They sent their courier to collect, promised max 6 weeks turnaround and had them back with me in two...

Re: Fairing and seat unit
Thanks Pedda, I'd had a look on the Web and not found anything. I'll give it a miss having just had the frame done.

Re: Fairing and seat unit
I don't suppose anybody knows if frame mods are needed for this unit? I'm trying to pretty up my ESD and tweaking this to fit is far easier than making one which I was considering.

Re: Fork Chrome Plating
Thanks to both of you for the quick reply Blix and Uncle Bob. I'm luke-warm about pattern stanchions just because you don't know how good the metal grade or the chrome thickness is. If someone gave me a firm recommendation I'd probably give it a try but otherwise I'd always refurbish. Bob, your comm...

Fork Chrome Plating
I'm renovating a set of ESD forks and wondered if anybody has any strong recommendations or "best avoided" stories. A few services I have looked at have mixed reviews and TBH I don't trust random internet opinions and would prefer club ones. The local plater for me is Hard Chrome Plating Ltd, Mansfi...

Re: Strange indicator flashing fault
Thanks John, makes sense. Been a long time since I bought parts for a classic bike. The 750 has been stored 18 years and back in 2000 I was able to buy everything I needed including a replacement fairing OEM. I really want a rant about how poor web sellers info is for these generic parts is and in s...
